Egyptian Gods and Goddesses

The Egytians were very relgious people. They beleived that unless they prayed to their gods, the gods would stop doing their work amnd the world would collapse.

One problem was that the Egyptians had HUNDREDS of gods. Some were the gods of death, or patrons of cities and towns or creators of certain species plants and animals, you get the idea!

They had a chief god, but depending on who was their current pharoah, it changed! Some pharoahs beleived that a group of gods called the the Ogdoad accidently created the world while battling each other. Others thought that Ptah, the god of crafts, created the world and all other gods by describing them through words. Still more thought that the god Amun created the primeval waters that the early universe was, and from there everything else.
